ENATS 97-1 Cable Sand Supply

We supply ENA TS 97-1 compliant sand nationwide, with distribution across England, Scotland and Wales. Our specialist sand products meet the technical requirements for both Selected Sand and Cement Bound Sand (CBS) as defined by the ENATS 97-1 specification.

ENATS Sand Types 

  • Building Sand (EN 13139) – Fine, soft sand for mortar and bricklaying. 
  • Concrete Sand (EN 12620) – Sharp sand (0/4mm) for concrete mixes. 
  • Asphalt Sand (EN 13043) – Graded sand for bituminous materials. 
  • Sports Sand – Clean, washed sand for sports turf and arenas. 
  • Cable/Fill Sand – Utility backfill, may meet EN 13285 if structural. 

Our cable sand products are designed for open trench applications, where cables are either directly buried or installed in ducts within the backfill. Tested to meet ENATS 97-1 standards, our backfill materials are load-bearing, erosion-resistant, and able to withstand settlement, impact and frost heave. 

ENA TS 97-1


ENA TS 97-1 certified, ENA TS 97-1 is ideal for high-voltage underground cable installations in the rail, energy, and utilities sectors. It provides excellent compaction and thermal conductivity, reducing electrical resistance around power cables. 

Already used in over 100 UK Power Networks projects, ENA TS 97-1  offers reliable grading, density, and cohesion (available in 0/2mm and 0/4mm). It’s supplied loose, or in 25kg and 850kg bags.
