Overview

Redrox Quarry Products supported works at Wellholme Park and Whinney Hill Park as part of the wider Brighouse Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The project forms part of major works designed to improve flood resilience across Brighouse, helping to protect residential and commercial properties while also creating environmental and biodiversity improvements.

Redrox supplied approximately 3,000 tonnes of specialist aggregates, soils and natural materials to support the flood alleviation and landscaping works.

Challenge

The project required a wide variety of specialist materials to be sourced and delivered throughout the works.

With multiple material specifications and significant quantities required, maintaining a reliable and coordinated supply was essential to keep the project progressing.

Materials required included:

• BS8601 Subsoil
• BS3882 Topsoil
• LMA 40/200 Rock Armour
• 50/100mm Gravel
• 100/250mm Gravel
• 20/40mm Gravel
• Rip rap
• Rounded cobbles

The combination of specialist soils, graded gravels and rock armour needed to support both engineered flood protection and natural landscaping and environmental improvements.

Solution

Using our extensive supplier and quarry network, Redrox coordinated the sourcing and delivery of circa 3,000 tonnes of materials to meet the project’s requirements.

This included sourcing BS8601 compliant subsoil, BS3882 compliant topsoil, LMA 40/200 rock armour and specialist graded gravels in 20/40mm, 50/100mm and 100/250mm sizes.

Our team coordinated the different material streams through a single point of contact, simplifying procurement and helping ensure the correct specification of material was available when required.

From heavy rock armour and rip rap through to specialist topsoil, subsoil, cobbles and graded gravel, Redrox provided a flexible supply solution tailored to the different stages and requirements of the project.

Outcome

Redrox successfully supplied circa 3,000 tonnes of specialist aggregates and landscaping materials, supporting the delivery of important flood defence and environmental works at Wellholme Park and Whinney Hill Park.

The project demonstrates our ability to source and coordinate BS3882 topsoil, BS8601 subsoil, rock armour, rip rap, specialist gravels and other specification-led aggregates for complex infrastructure and environmental projects.
